"God used MTI to make a special
impact on my wife and me. I recommend MTI as an important
training program that has the backing of the choicest interdenominational
missions in America today.”
Dr. Luis & Pat Palau

Here’s
what sending agencies are saying about MTI:
 |
|
“"We
at PIONEERS look to MTI to set the standard for effective
cross-cultural and
language acquisition training for missionaries. I thank God
for the significant difference MTI’s training makes
in the lives of our members. MTI’s new training center
will assure all of us in the missions community that this
quality
training will be available to future generations of missionaries.”
Steve
Richardson
President, PIONEERS

"We have been sending people to MTI to get
what we consider to be some of the best training available for cross-cultural
workers
today. We are a midsize organization and depend on MTI to
do what it would be too costly or time-consuming to do. MTI
has the added attraction of having excellent instructors who are
caring, insightful and knowledgeable of their craft. I
feel that without MTI our people would be deficient in their
preparation. Paul Arneson
Chief Operations Officer of Mission:
Moving Mountains
GEM is an active and supportive ministry partner
with Mission Training International. Currently between 50-70 GEM appointees
take part in the pre-field training sponsored by MTI
each year. Many also receive language acquisition training
through the PILAT program. I don't know how we could accomplish
our preparation and training tasks without MTI!

Director of Training at Greater Europe Mission
Here’s
what our alumni are saying about MTI:
"The
training was nothing like we expected and so much of what we
needed.”
"How wonderful it was
for me to get introduced to MTI as a resource!.. and how
much God has grown and challenged
me through the people
I met there and the incredible integrity and wholeness they
bring to each topic.”
"We have been missionaries
for 13 years but this type of debriefing and renewal have
been long overdue… all
missionaries with any board need to go through DAR.”
"Just last month I entered
the “chaos” stage
you warned us about. I was frustrated with learning the language,
tired
of people laughing at my mistakes, frustrated at being constantly
asked
for money and irritated by the stink of the streets. Knowing
that my reactions were normal and that other missionaries have
felt the
same way – managing to push through – has been
such an encouragement to me and has strengthened my resolve
to continue
committing this time to God and trusting Him to help me
through any cultural stress. I am so thankful we had that
time with
you guys at MTI!”
"I had no idea how much
I did not know! We covered issues and topics which we had
no clue were relevant, but seem indispensable
now. Becoming an effective missionary requires a great deal
of interpersonal skills and understanding – all of
which were taught very well at MTI.”
"The training
was extensive in each area, helping to prepare for situations,
feelings, and the shocks and conflicts that can
come from moving into a new culture. There was such a wealth
of experience from those training and those being taught
that I know
I gained so much more than I had anticipated. Even though
it was a short time, I believe I’ve made some life-long
friends. Our similar experiences, anxieties and emotions
brought us
together but we also shared the same love for Jesus and
heart to do His
will overseas.”
"There were other missionaries
in our language classes who just didn’t
seem to be able to pick up on the different sounds in the
language…Because
of MTI, we were able to keep up with a Bible translator
explaining to us some of the nuances of the verbs that otherwise
would
have flown way over my head.”
"More than anything
my wife and I will be forever in your debt as you have resourced
us to equip ourselves to
meet
the needs
of our children as we minister overseas.”
"I learned more in the
past 3 weeks than I did in 4 years of college.”
"The programs are all
so relevant. I have been involved in many missions courses
and seminars and this
is the most relevant by far.”
"I will remember my time
at MTI the rest of my life… everything
that was shared and taught was so helpful.”
“I
found most helpful the openness that was allowed in sharing,
the relaxed schedule which facilitated a wonderful
community, and
the honesty in speaking on difficult, heart-level topics.”
"The way the adult and children’s
program is coordinated and the insightful feedback we received
about our
kids rates A+.”
"The questions and classes
prompted dialogue that encourage community… I
learned more outside of ‘class’ than in it.”
"Because
of MTI, I’m looking forward to language
learning now instead of fearing it.”
"I’m especially thankful to the ‘field
experienced’ trainers – for
sharing vulnerably with practical wisdom that only comes
from living overseas and knowing that God can work in the good
times
and the
bad times.”
“I have seen and experienced
a new way of language learning and it works!”
"This course is absolutely
necessary before learning a language! It has given me hope that
I can learn languages. It
has given
me motivation and skills to enhance my language learning. I have learned
to hear and produce a bunch of phonetic sounds that I
was not even aware of!”
"The thing that sticks out
now (6 months back in the US) after returning from overseas for
the second time, is
how much better I adapted back to North American culture after coming to
DAR. It
taught me grace – with myself, with ‘my’ culture,
with my church and also with the people/culture I was
leaving. It gave me some closure, and a chance to process
some of the
events
and confusions, and then helped me plan next steps both
for my life and for our mission. An amazing accomplishment
for
just 5 days!” |
