A gift-in-kind is a donation of physical goods or tangible property rather than cash. Examples may include equipment, vehicles, furnishings, technology, supplies, or other items that directly support MTI’s programs or operations.

All gifts-in-kind must support MTI’s mission and be approved prior to delivery.

Before donating a gift-in-kind, please contact MTI to discuss the proposed gift and confirm that it meets current needs and can be responsibly received.

Once approved:

• MTI will provide instructions for delivery or transfer of the item.

• Donors are responsible for any transportation or delivery costs unless otherwise agreed upon in advance.

• MTI will issue a charitable contribution acknowledgment after the gift has been received.

The effective date of the gift is the date the item is received by MTI.

• MTI is unable to assign a dollar value to gifts-in-kind. Donors are responsible for determining the fair market value of their gift for tax purposes.

• Gifts-in-kind should be in good, usable condition and free of liens or encumbrances.

• MTI reserves the right to decline gifts that do not align with current needs or that create undue administrative, storage, or disposal burdens.

• MTI’s policy is to use or liquidate donated items in a manner that best supports its mission, unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.
