Now Accepting Summer Internship Applications!
Each summer, Mission Training International welcomes a small group of interns who step into meaningful work and discover transformation along the way. Whether serving in our Children’s Intercultural Programs or within Operations, interns become part of a team that supports cross-cultural workers and their families as they prepare for life and ministry overseas.
One former intern shared about her experience:
“I came to MTI as a summer intern, ready to serve wherever I was needed and play a small part in the healing process for Third Culture Kids (TCKs). What I did not expect was how much the experience would shape and restore me in return. In the end, I discovered that walking and being with these kids had been a healing gift for my own heart.
This realization became especially real one afternoon during one of the debriefing programs, as I watched them playing ga-ga ball. I teared up just seeing so many kids who were just like me. I got to be part of their story, part of their journey of cross-cultural transition. I watched them connect after they had known each other for only two days: solving problems together, exploring curiosity and adventure, and being vulnerable about the things they were going to miss about home.
I remember being in my discovery classroom during DAR and reading a book called Swirly. It tells the story of a TCK who becomes a blend of colors, each shade representing a place she had lived. At the end of the book it explains that God is swirly too. When I finished reading to them, one of the little boys named Luke looked at me and said: “Ms. Grace, you are swirly too.” His words captured what I had been sensing all along - that these kids carried the same beautiful blend, the same unmistakable mark of being TCKs.
They were unmistakably TCKs, and I grieved that I wouldn't get to see how the Lord would continue to mold them. Yet, I left with a heart fuller than I could have imagined, carrying lessons of resilience, curiosity, and vulnerability that will stay with me forever.”
The internship experience at MTI is deeply relational and hands-on. Interns grow in spiritual depth, cross-cultural understanding, and professional skill while contributing in real and lasting ways.
Applications are now open for two summer opportunities:
Children’s Intercultural Programs (CHIPs) Internship – Engage directly with TCKs through creative play, learning, and debriefing activities.
Operations Internship – Support the behind-the-scenes work that makes MTI’s programs thrive, from logistics to hospitality.
If you have a heart for cross-cultural ministry and a desire to grow both personally and professionally, we invite you to apply.
